Log Lane Village

Welcome To Log Lane Village

Log Lane Village is a statutory town of about 900 people (913 at the 2020 census), incorporated in 1956 and named for the log houses it started as, at the crossroads of Highway 144 and I-76 about two miles northwest of Fort Morgan. It is residential almost end to end — a grid of small lots, a town hall on Birch Street, a Dollar General, a convenience and liquor store, a couple of auto shops, a light-industrial fabrication shop, and, unusually for a town this size, four licensed marijuana dispensaries, which the town's own economic development page lists first among its businesses. What buyers get here is a quiet lot two miles from everything Fort Morgan has: a hospital, a community college campus, and a river park.

Life In Log Lane Village

What It's Like To Live In Log Lane Village

Things To Do In Log Lane Village

The town runs a real calendar for its size — an Easter egg hunt, Independence Day fireworks, a summer town barbecue and National Night Out, a car show and fall festival, trunk-or-treat at Halloween, and a kids' Christmas party. Past that, everything is Fort Morgan, two miles southeast: Riverside Park's trails, ponds and summer pool, the Fort Morgan Museum on Main Street, and the pedestrian Rainbow Arch Bridge over the South Platte.

Restaurants & Dining

There are no sit-down restaurants in Log Lane Village — the business base is a Dollar General, a convenience and liquor store, and auto and fabrication shops. Dining means the two-mile drive into Fort Morgan, where Main Street has Cables Pub and Grill, Bun Appetit and Kukaro Brewing, or 13 miles east to True Grits Steakhouse in Brush.

Dog Parks & Pet-Friendly Spots

No dog park in town. Fort Morgan's two fenced off-leash parks — the split large- and small-dog park at Gateway Park and the smaller one at Fulton Heights Park — are both a few minutes away, and Riverside Park's river trails are the everyday leashed walk.

Best Hikes & Trails Near Log Lane Village

Nothing in town, and nothing pretending otherwise. The closest real walking is Riverside Park's roughly six miles of South Platte trails in Fort Morgan, two miles away. Jackson Lake State Park is about a half-hour west, and the nearest mountain trailheads are a two-hour drive.

Schools & Commute From Log Lane Village

Schools: Morgan County School District Re-3 (Fort Morgan). Commute: Two miles to Fort Morgan, about 83 miles and an hour and a half to Denver on I-76, and about 55 miles to Greeley — functionally the same commute as Fort Morgan's, with the interstate on-ramp right there at the Highway 144 interchange. Log Lane Village is worth understanding before buying into it. It's its own municipality rather than part of Fort Morgan, with its own town hall, ordinances and utility service, so water, sewer and trash come from the town — ask what the monthly utility bill actually runs, and whether the specific lot is on town water and sewer, because this is an older small-lot town and that detail varies house to house. Children attend Morgan County School District Re-3 schools in Fort Morgan. And know the local character going in: four retail marijuana dispensaries in a town of 900 is a defining feature of the place, and the town lists them among its primary businesses.
